Prostate cancer, (PCa) is an actual problem of modern oncology. 26268 new PCa cases Russia in 2010, and up to 28,885 were registered in 2011. Localized PCa was diagnosed in 44.8 % of those patients, and locally advanced cancer in 53.4% of them. During the period from 1999 to 2009 the incidence has risen by 130.6 % and mortality by 40.7 %. Open, laparoscopic or robot-assisted radical prostatectomy as well as brachytherapy and external beam radiation therapy are used most widely for the treatment of localized disease. Other treatment modalities are in the stage of active development HIFU- high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation, cryoablation, photodynamic therapy. Evaluation of the treatment effectiveness at this stage should be carried out taking into account the quality of life. According to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) - quality of life is the second most important criterion for evaluating the results of anticancer therapy after survival, and is more important than the primary tumor response. This paper focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the quality of life in patients after various types of treatment for localized prostate cancer.
