Quality of life and post-stroke depression

In the article you can find the results of the research on quality of life of the patients with acute ischemic stroke. Their diagnosis was confirmed tomo-graphically. In order to study the changes of quality of life characteristics of the patients they were divided into two groups without any difference concerning gender or age. One group included patients with post-stroke depression, the other one included patients without it. The control group included conditionally healthy people. It was ascertained that the patients with post-stroke depression scored lower on Vitality, Role Emotional and Mental Health scales. This score proves the difficulty to adjust to life after stroke. The reasons of adjustment disorder are motivational and emotional. These results prove the necessity of starting poststroke depression treatment at the acute stage of stroke.
