The purpose of this article is a categorical and conceptual apparatus for the formation of military and professional motivation of cadets of military universities. The problem of forming military and professional motivation of cadets at the present stage of society’s development continues to be one of the most important for military universities. Despite the increasing requirements for the level of organization of the educational process in military universities, the issue of the formation of military professional motivation of cadets remains insufficiently studied for a number of reasons, in our opinion: 1) lack of a systematic approach (unlike other areas, such as labor motivation or educational motivation, research in the field of military professional motivation is often fragmentary. This is due to the fact that many aspects of military service are specific and require a deep understanding of the characteristics of military affairs); 2) lack of methodological tools (the study of military professional motivation requires the use of special methods and approaches that have not yet been fully developed. For example, methods are needed to assess the influence of various factors on the military and professional motivation of servicemen, such as stressful conditions of service, features of teamwork and others). Despite the difficulties, the study of the issue of military and professional motivation is extremely necessary. In our opinion, for further study of the phenomenon, it is necessary to develop special methods and tools for assessing the level of formation of military and professional motivation, as well as for the independent improvement of the individual level of formation of components of military-professional motivation by cadets of military universities of the Russian Federation.Thus, the relevance of this study is due to the need to formulate the concept of “military and professional motivation of cadets of military universities”
