The article highlights some issues of the theory of causativity in linguistics. The conceptual content of the category is universal for describing any language at different levels of the language system, so this topic has been under the close supervision of linguists for a long time. The author notes that there are several directions in the study of causation. From the point of view of semantics, factitive and permissive causative constructions, contact and distant causatives are distinguished and studied. Recently, concepts such as sociative causation, which considers causativity using a continuum scale, have also appeared. Lexical, morphological, and syntactic causatives are also studied in order to identify specific means of expressing causativity. However, research on the event structure of a causative situation is becoming increasingly popular.
