Case study as a method to increase socialization and competence of students at the department of pharmacology

In connection with the redirection of higher professional education to the competence approach and the need for professional socialization of students, it is especially important to search for effective ways and means of training to form key competencies of future medical staff and fulfill their needs for continuing professional development. The purpose of this study was to develop the rationale and practical application of case study method while studying the discipline “Pharmacology” by students of the medical university. Developed by the team of the department of Pharmacology, the cases contribute to the development of the general professional competence of the medical students, to their readiness to solve the educational and professional tasks in the field of medical health, which ultimately leads to a successful professional socialization.
