Filmmaking in the Near East during the First World War

Cinema is occupying a special position in the system of mass communication and so it is more than any other art forms go through ideological and political circumstances. For the first time it clearly came out during the First World War, which officially involved 38 states with a population of about 1,5 billion. Facts and events of the First World War have had crucial importance not only for the West but also the East. As well as it affected powerful Ottoman Empire, Syria and Egypt had being under Ottoman’s rule since the XVIth century. In light of the current situation in the Middle East talking about the specifics of the cinematic processes in the region in 1914 - 1918 years is important, necessary and interesting.
