The article examines the evolution of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation in 2005-2010. In addition to political and economic interaction, cooperation in the area of security and countering threats had also been actively developing. The key topics of interaction during the period under consideration were the issues of assistance to Kyrgyzstan in normalizing the situation in the country after Tulip Revolution and the tasks of cooperation between the two states within the CIS, CSTO, OSCE, EurAsEC and SCO. One of the issues of negotiations between Kyrgystan and Russia was the problem of the US military base withdrawal from Manas that was fulfilled in 2009. Nevertheless, the governments of Kyrgyzstan and the United States signed an agreement on the establishment of a Transit Transport Centre at Bishkek's Manas Airport, which caused a negative reaction on the part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Some Russian analysts, experts and media expressed dissatisfaction with the establishment of this centre in Kyrgyzstan, as it not only ensured the political presence of US intelligence services in the Central Asian Region, but also influenced the countries of the region in the political, economic and military spheres. The relevance of this topic is conditioned by the geopolitical importance of Central Asia for the Russian Federation, the importance of information exchange and cooperation between the intelligence services of the two states to ensure security both in Central Asia and in the CIS.
