This article is dedicated to a critical analysis of A.M. Gurevich’s article “On the Class Struggle in Samarkand in 1365-1366” by Uzbek historian Bulat Saliev. The article examines the ideological influences on historical science during the Soviet period and analyzes the interpretation of the Sarbadar movement. Saliev challenges Gurevich’s class-based approach and argues that the Sarbadar movement was a popular movement consisting of artisans and the poor. The article also criticizes errors in translations and inaccuracies in Gurevich’s use of historical sources.
