Clinical case of spontaneous of the perforation extragenital endometriosis in the sigmoid colon during pregnancy

This case report describes a woman with spontaneous perforation of the sigmoid colon from endometriosis in pregnancy. A 36-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital at 33 week of pregnancy with symptoms suggestive of threatening preterm birth. On the second day developed generalized peritonitis. Caesarean section was made. Intraoperative found perforation of the sigmoid colon wall. Obstructive resection of the sigmoid colon was then performed. Histological examination revealed diffuse proliferation of drugs decidua tissue in the muscle and serous membranes of the sigmoid wall. Only 21 cases of intestinal perforation due to endometriosis have been reported in the literature.
