Clinical value of static scintigraphy in children with reflux nephropathy

The aim of this work was to assess the clinical significance of static scintigraphy with technetium-99-labeled dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) scan for the diagnosis of renal damage in children with vesicoureteral reflux and recurrent urinary tract infection. The study group included 79 children with reflux and urinary tract infection aged from 1 to 14 years (mean age 5,89±0,45 years), including 58 (73,4%) girls. DMSA static scintigraphy was held for all children to assess the severity of reflux nephropathy.
