The article is devoted to the events connected with the development of bibliography in the Russian province during the Civil War. Boris M. Gorodetsky, who had an experience of working with the establishers of the Russian Book Chamber S. А. Vengerov and A. M. Lovyagin, had moved to Ekaterinodar and made the invaluable contribution to the development of the bibliography of the North Caucasus. At the initiative of Gorodetsky a bibliographic section was organized in the Kuban Region in 1917. The work carried out by the outstanding bibliographer allowed the formation of the Caucasian Branch of the Russian Book Chamber, which later acquired the status of the Caucasian Institute of the Book Science. Becoming a regional representative of the Book Chamber, Boris M. Gorodetsky organized the sending of mandatory copies of printed materials to Moscow, thereby ensuring the preservation of rare books and newspapers during the Civil War.
