The article is devoted to the political relations between the princes and the Kievan community after the end of the feudal war in the middle of the 12th century. The author notes that in an effort to gain a foothold in the city, the rulers used two different tactics: support for other princely houses and an agreement with the townspeople. The second line provided military support to the city militia, but the Kiev community for various reasons did not always strive to fulfill its obligations.
