Co-spaces as a consequence of digital society development

The author describes the causes and social consequences of the emergence, functioning and development of co-spaces (coworking, coliving, car sharing, hostels, etc.) in modern cities. The reasons for the emergence of co-spaces under the influence of digital technologies, their qualitative difference from previous public spatial forms (for example, from hostels, communal housing, pilgrimage centers, etc.), as well as their impact on social processes are explained. Marxist methodology is used to explain the causes and consequences of the emergence of co-spaces. This causes and consequences considered to be based on the development of the capitalist economy under the influence of digital technologies and media. The features of the precariat, which has become the main audience of co-spaces, and the possibilities of capital accumulation from the “production” of co-spaces, which have appeared precisely in the digital economy, are considered. It is concluded that the tendencies that led to the development of co-spaces are just one of the many tendencies of contemporary capitalism.
