Cognitive and communicative outdoor games as a means of promoting active aging and health maintenance in older adults

Aim. This study aimed to design and evaluate a motor-gaming intervention based on outdoor activities to enhance physical performance, preserve cognitive functions, and improve communicative socialization in elderly individuals. Materials and methods. A 9-month study was conducted at the Pedagogical Institute of Irkutsk State University, involving 44 participants. Our intervention consisted of twiceweekly 60-minute sessions incorporating outdoor games targeting physical, cognitive, and social engagement. Results. Post-intervention analysis revealed a statistically significant improvement in cognitive function (p < 0.01) and enhanced social interaction among participants. Сonclusions. The study successfully developed and validated a specialized outdoor gaming intervention tailored to the organizational and methodological requirements of physical activity for older adults.
