The article discusses the impact of cognitive dominants, which the translator’s knowledge hypertext is structured around, as the trigger of shifts in the sociocultural respective, which the translator construes the literary whole from. A set of dominants of intersubjective nature, continuously instantiated in Russian translations of British and American literature, is outlined based on a parallel corpora study.
