Cognitive component of the translator's competence

The article examines the importance of the cognitive component in the translator professional competence. There presented the definition and classification of cognitive skills. The author singles out the components of the translator professional activity. Special attention is paid to the substantial aspect of the cognitive skills in the structure of the translator professional competence, which is described through the range of common-cultural and professional competencies of the specialist, as reflected in the Federal State Educational Standard of higher professional education.
