Purpose of the work. To study the anatomical and X-ray morphological features of pelvic bones and the proximal femur in patients with idiopathic scoliosis (IS) by multisection computed tomography (MSCT). Material and Methods. In 112 patients with idiopathic scoliosis of varying severity, bone density (Hounsfield units, HU) of the proximal femur and sciatic bones was assessed by MSCT in a continuous, retrospective single-center study. Results. The study showed that the density of the femoral head and its central part was higher in patients with C-shaped scoliosis on the side of the convex part of the arch with a deformation greater than 70°. Similar correlations were noted for the sciatic bone and greater trochanter. The density of the femoral cortical plate for the right and left sides did not differ for the varying degrees of deformation. The density of the proximal femur did not differ in patients with S-shaped scoliosis with varying degreeы of deformation of the scoliotic arches. Conclusion. The value of the angle of deformation in the thoracic spine in C-shaped scoliosis correlates with the value of the density of the femoral head, trochanter and sciatic bone at a strain value of more than 70° (p<0.05). No differences were recorded in patients with severe S-shaped scoliosis.
