Colonial Korea in the eyes of Japanese historians: main directions of Japanese historiography in the late XIXth - XXth centuries

The article attempts to show how Japanese historians of the late XIXth and XXth centuries described Korea in general and the period of Japanese rule of the country (1910-1945) in particular. The author examines the main directions and key concepts of Japanese historiography of Korean history, as well as their transformations against the background of the XXth century events.
