The article attempts to show how Japanese historians of the late XIXth and XXth centuries described Korea in general and the period of Japanese rule of the country (1910-1945) in particular. The author examines the main directions and key concepts of Japanese historiography of Korean history, as well as their transformations against the background of the XXth century events.
