Based on a pilot study, the article analyzes the correlation between the degree of satisfaction with the activities of the executive authorities represented by the committees of St. Petersburg and the level of communication between the committees and residents of the city. The author makes a special emphasis on the role of a modern sociologist: it is emphasized that he must not only be an independent agent of interaction between society and power, but also must contribute to the establishment of cyclical communication between the executive power and the population of the city. In conclusion, a number of recommendations are given to help eliminate communication barriers between the government and society, which will lead both to an increase in the effectiveness of the policy aimed at a qualitative improvement in the life of St. Petersburgers, and to a general improvement in the social mood of the urban population.
