This article is devoted to the study of communicative perspective in composite sentences in line with the cognitive-discursive paradigm. The author proceeds from the fact that communicative sentence perspective is conceptually regulated by the status-of-knowledge-determining function, a particular manifestation of the interpretive function of language. The status of knowledge determination as given or new regulates communication promotion and is based on the ability of an individual to make previously constructed representations the subject of analysis. In this regard, in view of the status of knowledge sentence construction is metacognitive in nature. Various data on communicative perspective in a composite sentence are part of this sentence as a linguistic knowledge format. The speaker configures these data to produce composite sentences in speech. In order to explore communicative sentence perspective in composite sentences as metacognition, the author develops a metacognitive modeling method. This method involves selection and description of the main conceptual structures used by the speaker to convey the given and new through composite sentences. These structures can be called cognitive models of communicative sentence perspective in composite sentences or meta-cognitive models of the considered units. The research is carried out with evidence from English. In particular, the author describes one of the abovementioned models based on the suppression of the given knowledge. This model reflects the dynamic aspect of interpretation as human cognitive activity. The basic cognitive mechanism to implement such a model is defocusing. Linguistic mechanisms include categorical and subcategorial means of suppression representation through composite sentences.
