Communicative English teaching to medical students

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the communicative language teaching (CLT), namely, English teaching to non-linguistic (medical) students. The CLT aims at forming a communicative competence. The article briefly discusses the history of CLT. The key principles of CLT are described. There is demonstrated a teacher’s role. The conditions for CLT implementation at English lessons at a medical university are considered. CLT is concluded to be an optimal method due to the establishment of fluency, reasoned opinion expression and orientation in a specific language situation.
