Competency-based approach to development of university graduates’ competitive skills

Today both foreign and domestic literature pay great attention to the problem of graduates’ competitiveness. This problem is studied by economists, managers, psychologists and educators. An analysis of theoretical approaches to this concept has shown that all of them are quite similar. Scientists highlight various factors that influence graduates’ competitiveness with the main emphasis being placed on personal characteristics of graduates and insufficient attention to qualification component. We have proposed our own approach to determining the competitiveness of graduates, which is based on identification of three groups of competencies: professional, personal and business. Each of these groups contains a set of qualities that determine the competitiveness of a graduate. As a result of testing this approach, we have built a model for development university graduates’ competitive skills.
