Computer model of Volzjskay dam-break

The dynamics of flooding in consequence of the Volzjskii hydroelectric plant dam break is modeled in the frame of the shallow water theory. Submersion wave propagation is considered over a real domain of 1426 km2 in size on the Volga river valley down Volzski barrage including Volgograd. The characteristic time of flooding depends on flood rates and may be less than an hour.
