A piece of art «The lady and the piano» by K. Malevich (collection of the Surikov art museum) is exhibited actively and is of great interest for professional community because it’s still a little studied. At the same time at the monographic exhibition «Malevich: revolution of Russian art» organized by Tate Modern in 2014 a crucial importance of the work for artist at the period of Suprematism formation was obvious. The main issue of this research is to refine the attribution and analyze the pigment layer. Scientific novelty of this issue is unquestionable because these goals are solved in first time.
