The paper deals with the social and economic aspects of the “information” concept. It shows that due to the ideal nature of the information, it is a boon of a specialkind which is not destroyed in case of consumption, and that can be dessiminatedw ith minimal costs. The paper analises A. Gorz's theoretical presentation, according to which the result of the minimum costs in the distribution of existinginformation the latter should be distributed without any payment. It is provedthat this provision is not compatible with the fact that high costs are associatedwith new information creation. It is argued that the consequence of unlimitedfree distribution of information is to reduce the incentives essential to create newinformation.
