Concept “football” in the Russian and English linguistic cultures

The article deals with the concept “football” and its language implementation in the Russian and English linguistic cultures on the basis of the dictionaries and the data obtained in the associative experiment. There is conducted a detailed conceptual analysis of the concept “football”, there is revealed the core of the concept through the prism of the analysis of the different lexicographical sources. There were chosen the words ‘football’, ‘victory’, ‘goal’, ‘defeat’, ‘player’ and ‘team’ as the stimulating words.
