The concept of "homeland" in Russian and English linguistic cultures

This article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of "Homeland" in Russian and English linguistic cultures. Explanatory and phraseological dictionaries in Russian and English are used as sources for the study. The analysis of the emotional meaning of the concept and its perception by representatives of each of the linguistic cultures gives reason to believe about its hidden meaning. The key concepts of culture are the main units of the worldview that are significant both for an individual and for the linguistic and cultural community as a whole. A characteristic feature of the concept of "Homeland" is the use of emotionally colored vocabulary, meaning "a place where you are with your soul and heart." Awareness of one's national identity in the context of increasing globalization determines the relevance of this topic.
