The genre of the novel has great potential in revealing the human soul and relationships between people. It includes many concepts as tools for connecting the artistic world with the national world. Many Buryat novels created in the 1970s, including the novels «Generous Heart» by B. Mungonov and «Valley of the Immortals» by V. Mitypov, are characterized by attention to the concept of «family», which reflects the importance of the family in the traditional culture of the Buryats. The concept of «childhood» is revealed by writers, especially by V. Mitypov, in the most expressive and emotional way, which also corresponds to the especially careful attitude towards children that is traditional for Buryats. In both works, the concept of childhood is the focus of all the characters' best lives. The theme of home and the theme of the loss of a part of the person’s world are connected with this concept in the Valley of the Immortals novel. In the "Generous Heart" novel, family concepts such as fatherhood and motherhood come to the fore.
