Conceptualization of the concepts of meaning and meaningful work in social-psychological research

This article examines established approaches to the study of meaning in professional activity: psychological, philosophical-normative, and organizational-managerial. Based on a synthesis of the theories of M. Weber, A. Schutz, P. Berger, and T. Luckmann, a sociological interpretation of the meaning of work is proposed. This theoretical framework is used to examine the crisis of meaning in professional activity. The empirical basis of this work is the results of a study (N700), demonstrating systemic dissatisfaction among employees with their ability to realize their life purpose, vitality, and livelihood.
