The article presents the logic of designing the content of the discipline “Natural Science”, developed using the reverse design method. The discipline is general educational and is implemented on the basis of secondary vocational education. Benjamin Bloom’s modified taxonomy is used as a methodological framework for designing learning outcomes. The principle of decomposition of five key learning outcomes is considered, each of which is compared with one of the sections of the discipline. The used approach to the design of the discipline would make a conscious choice of assessment tools and teaching technologies, as well as form students a holistic natural-scientific picture of the world and ideas about a single holistic system of man and nature. Thus, the discipline includes content that works only for the planned learning outcomes, avoiding inappropriate spending of study time. The methodology for teaching the discipline “Natural Science” was developed within the framework of the federal project “Modern School”.
