Conceptual signs of the city in the Theodore Dreiser's art world (in the Trilogy of desire novel)

This article is devoted to the analysis of the City concept in the novel The Trilogy of Desire by the great American writer and politician Theodore Dreiser and the identification of conceptual signs of the city. The subject of the research is the language representation of the City concept in the Trilogy of Desire novel. The object of the research is the City concept in the English language picture of the world. The purpose of the work is to analyze the City concept lexically and semantically in the art world of Theodore Dreiser. When identifying the conceptual signs of the city in the novel, the method of semantic-cognitive analysis of the concept was used, suggesting a special stage of description - cognitive interpretation. This method implies the concept identification and formation based on its conceptual signs. Since the urban theme is fundamental in the work of Theodore Dreiser, the images of cities created on the pages of the Trilogy of Desire novel by Theodore Dreiser, their conceptual signs that make it possible to draw a conclusion about the influence of cities on the life and success of the protagonist - Frank Algernon Cowperwood are being analyzed in the article.
