The paper presents a study of the place and importance of conceptual analysis in the methodological arsenal of analytical jurisprudence. It shows the historical importance and necessity of conceptual analysis in law, taking into account the specific features of this area of the humanities. Brain Leiter's arguments against an application of conceptual analysis in legal philosophy have been considered, as well as counter-arguments to naturalized juris-prudence. It has been shown that Leiter's claim to accept W. V. O. Quine's view that philosophy should abandon conceptual analysis for a scientific methodology does not work in legal philosophy.
