The paper focuses on the analysis of global popular science content (articles, expert speeches, futurologist blogs, etc.) that presents an image of the digital future. The views of scholars on it in terms of the concepts of techno-optimism and techno-pessimism are examined. The main content of ideas about the digital future, factors of a positive presentation of technology development and key threats and fears associated with the introduction of digital technologies in society are identified. Some experts and authors of texts are characterized by a belief in new digital technologies as a tool to solve the pressing problems of mankind in the field of ecology, healthcare, education, where everything will become better and more affordable. Other scholars have questioned the credibility of digital technology. This is mainly due to the development of Artificial Intelligence and the fear that it may at some point be out of humanity's control; the collection and analysis of Big Data, putting individuals' personal data at risk, etc. Ultimately, it is that the security of digitalization depends on who owns and controls its technologies, what will be the boundary between man and artificial intelligence.
