The article is devoted to implementing the basic principles of Makarenko's pedagogy into the formation of professional independence of students using the game, the game form of professional competitions and WorldSkills championships organized within the creative and pedagogical interaction of educational institutions, production associations and firms. During the long-term experiment, the special role of the contest model of professional educational organization was confirmed. Conditions of constant preparation for various competitions, systematic participation in a series of competitions of different levels, independent fulfillment of complex, practical-oriented training assignments are really important as all students get the opportunity to form and develop their professional independence being the basis for the competence of the future skilled worker and specialist.
