The article is devoted to the place of Konstantin Leontiev in the history of the conservative journal “Russkoe Obozrenie” (“Russian Review”) in the 1890s. The aim of the study is to highlight the stages and the course of the process of forming the posthumous image of the thinker on the pages of this press organ. Attention is paid to Leontyev’s negotiations in the last two years of his life on cooperation in the “Russkoe Obozrenie” with its editor, Prince Dmitry Tsertelev. An assessment is given to Leontiev’s obituary written by Vladimir Solovyov. The seizure of the journal by Leontiev’s students and associates, so called Heptastylists headed by Nicholas Boborykin and Anatoly Alexandrov in 1892, is discussed. The publications of Leontiev’s letters to S. Vasiliev (Sergei Flerov), Afanasy Fet, Lev Tikhomirov, Konstantin Gubastov, Valentina Popyrnikova, the memoirs of Nicholas Milyaev, the place of these sources of personal origin in the formation of the memory of the thinker are analyzed sequentially. The program articles by Lev Tikhomirov and Joseph Fudel about Leontiev are reviewed in detail. The conclusion is made about the role of the “Russkoe Obozrenie” in the formation of the cult of Leontiev, that then would receive significant development in the twentieth century.
