Construction of the type "you would only laugh" in the Russian language in the evaluative and optative interpretation

The article deals with the analysis of the expression “You would only laugh” from the point of view of the grammar constructions. The data of the Russian National Corpus demonstrates that the infinitive construction of the type is able to express the evaluative and optative meaning. There are described the two structures of the construction by the following characteristics: the frequency of the use of the personal pronouns, the combination with the functional words and the tendencies of the use of the perfective verb and imperfective verb.
