Case linguistics and teaching foreign languages

Corpus-based approach to teaching English is touched upon in the article. Methods of corpus linguistics can serve as a good teaching technique. In teaching foreign languages methods of corpus linguistics can be successfully used extending teaching techniques and giving students more study tools and independence. Though the efficacy of using corpora by linguists and all those who teach and study languages is of no doubt, corpora are still not so popular among teachers. Corpora can be addressed to organize students’ independent work using data available while studying theory and practice of foreign languages. Publications on the problem and some experience of addressing the British National Corpus in teaching theory and practice of English show that special manuals with exercises should be worked out instructing how to perform linguistic tasks more efficiently.
