Red terror during the Russian civil war in the Kuban: new documents and materials

In the article on the basis of archival materials several episodes of the Red Terror against the Orthodox clergy during the Civil War in the Kuban were considered. Analyzing the possibilities of commemorative practices the author notes the need to modify historical memory with the use of new materials and documents that allow the restoration of dramatic fragments of national history. Based on the documents revealed new names of clergymen who became victims of a large-scale civil confrontation which was spontaneous in nature are given. The introduction into scientific circulation of genuine testimonies and new materials about the victims of terror actualizes the problems of civil harmony in understanding such a complex and controversial topic, contributes to the formation of places of memory and to the destruction of stereotypes about the Civil War.
