The article gives a brief overview of archaeological data, according to which peoples of Semitic origin lived in the Delta of Nile in the second millennium BC. The second millennium B. C. is chosen as a period of the study because exactly at this time, according to the Bible, Jews lived in Egypt. Thus, given article’s purpose is to show that the book of Exodus, while speaking about presence of Jews in Egypt, well corresponds to the modern archaeological data. This brief study does not intend to make a specific identification of one or another city mentioned in the book of Exodus but offers a review of the information currently known about the Semitic presence in the delta. The article is based, among other things, on the direct reports of archaeological excavations published over the past few years and, therefore, little studied. The article discusses the capital of the Hyksos dynasty, Tell el Dabca, as well as the settlements located in the valley of Wadi Tumilat - Tell el Maskhuta, which at the beginning of the twentieth century was identified with the biblical store-city of Pithom, Tell el Retabeh, Tell el Yehudiyeh and some other cites.
