Introduction. The change in the pace and quality of the development of modern higher education has a significant impact on the professional and personal characteristics of a university teacher as a significant subject of the educational system, including creativity (abnotivity) of the professional thinking of a university teacher. With increasing requirements for polyprofessionalism of a modern teacher, his constant movement in self-development is necessary. This is possible only with the motivational component of this process, when the teacher experiences an internal need for this, and is not simply forced by the system to grow professionally and develop new professional competencies. The purpose is to determine the level of creative professional thinking of a modern university teacher. Materials and Methods. The survey covered forty-eight teachers from Omsk State Medical University and Yugra State University. The authors used theoretical analysis, tests, qualitative and quantitative analysis of empirical data. Testing was performed via method of determining the level of abnotivity for express-diagnostics of professionalism. Results and Discussion. The contradiction is found in the fact that a modern teacher is not satisfied with teaching activities. Due to this, a relatively low level of abnotivity (creativity) of thinking was recorded in the study sample. This implies the necessity of organizing a qualitatively- and content-new psychological and pedagogical maintenance for the teacher himself. Since, as a significant subject of professional interaction with students, the teacher also determines their professional development, including professional thinking. Conclusions. Conducting reflexive seminars on acmeological technology will reduce the risks of stagnation in the professional development of a teacher, improve the quality of professional and pedagogical communication with students, taking into account the mixed format of modern education, which has become the norm in higher education today.
