Li thic industry of Zaraysk B site

The excavations of the Upper Palaeolithic site Zaraysk B - the most recent site of the Kostenki-Avdeevo culture - were carried out from 2006 to 2011. This is a singlelayer settlement. The cultural layer is lithologically associated with the upper buried soil. The lithic assemblage consists of 1781 pieces. Technological analysis revealed operationalchains linked to the production of big blades. Refitting of the lithic collection enabled usto assume that blade production and production of tools on blades were carried out atthe site. Typological analysis revealed that the percentage of different types of categoriesis different from that of Zaraysk A. The new type of backed bladelets, which is not typicalfor Zaraysk A, was revealed as well
