Criminogenic Factors of Sexual Offenses

The article is aimed at identification and analysis of key criminogenic factors that determine criminal behavior in offenses against sexual freedom and personal inviolability, it also presents prevention strategies. We have used following materials and methods: systems analysis, comparative law research, content analysis of media resources, case studies, and statistical data processing. Study materials include statistical data from the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, an analysis of criminal cases against sexual freedom and inviolability in Moscow and Moscow Oblast, scientific publications encompassing criminological, sociological, and medical research. We have revealed three groups of determinants: socioeconomic, media-cultural, and psychobiological, as well as forms of victimization. As a result, we have identified key causes of increasing offenses against sexual freedom and personal inviolability, and proposed directions for sexual offenses prevention.
