Criminological characteristics of intentional infliction of serious harm to health

The article presents the criminological characteristics of crimes under article 111 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation. The author has accumulated and analyzed data from the official statistics of the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation concerning the dynamics, structure and geography of intentional infliction of serious harm to health in recent years. As the result of the analysis the author comes to the conclusion about inadequacy of absolute measures of registration and conviction for a crime under Article 111 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation, the objective reality that characterizes the prevalence of this type of crime and improvement in recent years, the degree of public danger of the facts of committing the intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm. In addition, the author identified features of the geography of the commission of this type of crime, including the subjects of the Russian Federation with annually high and low crime rates under Article 111 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation.
