Criteria for Assessing the Effectiveness of Patriotic Education of Children and Youth Using Information and Communication Technologies

Communication technologies have become the primary means of communication for children and youth in the modern world. The article outlines the main goal of patriotic education for children and youth in the context of employing information and communication technologies, which is oriented toward fostering a sense of safeguarding the Motherland and responsibility for its fate. Based on the main goal, the authors present the principles of patriotic education for young people using information and communication technologies. Among the criteria for patriotic education of youth are distinguished: value-semantic orientation, digital activity and literacy, interconnection between digital space and offline practices, technological provision, enhancement of management efficiency in the educational environment, significance of civic consciousness. Conclusion dwells upon the fact that the application of principles and criteria of patriotic education for youth employing digital technologies enables countering information threats and critical thinking, contributes to the formation of values, perspectives, a sense of safeguarding the Motherland and responsibility for the country’s fate, resisting manipulations, and adhering to verifiable facts.
