Criteria of determining terms for extaction of ureteral stents after the surgeries for hydronephrosis

Investigation of efficacy criteria for extraction of ureteral stent is presented in the article. These criteria are based on changing ureteral functional activity under diuretic exercise early after the surgery for hydronephrosis. We observed 26 patients ( divided into 2 groups) operated on for hydronephrosis. In the 1-st group patients, time of the stent extraction was determined by classic criteria. In the 2-nd group patients, the moment for extraction of the ureteral stent was determined by changes of bioelectrical signals after lasix intravenous injection. Frequency of complications was analyzed in the early postoperative period by simple comparative method in both groups. In the 2-nd group patients, postoperative period duration was 4 almost days less compared to the 1-st group ones. It is concluded that using new objective criteria reduces duration of stent's application and thus may reduce duration of postoperative period and frequency of reflux-pyelonephritis in most patients.
