Critical thinking as a requirement for a modern university student

The article examines critical thinking and its role for university students. The paper analyzes the differences between hard and soft skills, as well as the classifications of skills given by researchers; the place of critical thinking skills in these classifications is determined. The requirements of the federal state educational standard of higher education for students are also considered; special attention is given to the ability to think critically.
