The article is devoted to the views of Peter Linitsky and archimandrite Sylvester, the graduates of Kiev Theological Academy that were opponents of the philosophical pantheism. Having analyzed religious views of Descartes, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Spinoza and Malebranche, the thinkers stated that pantheism leads to indifference, awareness of fatal necessity and presents no motives to moral perfection. They contrasted pantheism with philosophical theism, the main principle of which as they considered was serving to the common good and achievement of moral purposes.
