Analysing the works of major contemporary American researchers, the impact of the structural crisis of capitalism on social institutions of education is stated. The author considers organization of education and upbringing in Russia, taking into account the conclusions of I. Wallerstein and R. Collins: university graduates who will have to compete with well-educated people with great life experience and work experience; the importance of social and cultural consequences of inflation of education/diplomas; a direct connection between the difficulties in obtaining education/diploma and the prestige of the diploma, the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market; the capitalist project of the development of the nearest planets has a large social and cultural “price”.
