By the results of experimental studies and by being guided by Protocol № 22 dated 22, 2004, by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the authors have conducted clinical trials of biotherapy used in oncological care. They describe the first experience in using xenovaccination in 35 patients with uveal melanoma to prevent hematogenic metastases. The follow-ups of the patients lasted within 12-64 months after initiation of the vaccination. No recurrences were observed in 27 patients during follow-ups whose durations averaged 49,7 months. The authors consider that this is reason to regard xenovaccinaton as an available method for the prevention of metastases of uveal melanoma.
