Fist and palm. On Osip Mandelstam’s translations of Max Barthel’s poetry

The article is devoted to the analysis of a collection of Osip Mandelstam’s translations “ Let us Conquer the World ” by a German proletarian poet Max Barthel. A comparison of the original poems and their translations allows the author to highlight a number of tendencies in Mandelstam’s work as a translator. Namely, enrichment and complication of Barthel’s imagery, partial elimination of religious metaphors, strengthening of the symbols of revolution, “domestication” of the translation and satiation of the translations with ingenious imagery
